Dave–
Scott Gordon from Northwestern here. You may or may not remember me for various reasons. Anyways–congrats on the Reason gig. I ran across your post thru Slate’s blogs column. Question–does PopMatters pay for stuff? Cause I’m doing a good deal of entertainment writing on my blogs and I’d like to stick it somewhere else.
The Chronicle is still tragically bad without you, by the way.

“Reason provides a refreshing alternative to right-wing and left-wing opinion magazines by making a principled case for liberty and individual choice in all areas of human activity.”
To that I can only say: Hee-hee. Also, a belated congratulations on the gig there. Hope you’re doing well…
To bad I did not know you were in So California. I could have met you in my PT Cruiser and had a drink with you. Let me know if you get back out this way again if you’re interested. Just googling and found your name and webiste. Have seen it before.
Nice piece on Slate; one of the more thorough treatments of the matter with insightful context.
Have you encountered the claim by some that the State of Hawaii issues Certifications of Live Birth to those residents who give birth while out of state, but wish to have the birth registered in the state? What do you make of such claims?
I heard your interview with NPR and I have another right-wing rumor for you to check out - “Obama Poised to Cede US Sovereignty” - Signing the Copenhagen Climate Treaty will cede US sovereignty, because the rest of the world will be able to police the United States and the country will no longer be its own master - see http://www.mnmajority.org, http://www.globalclimatescam.com
