It dawns on me that “Since You’re Gone” by The Cars (from Shake It Up) is a parody, in lyrical content and in melody, of a mid-period Bob Dylan song. Only with a clunky synthesized arrangement. Holy wow.

    Not so much in melody, somewhat in lyrical content … but VERY MUCH SO in something you didn’t mention — vocal delivery. It sounds like Ric Ocasek is doing at least a half-assed Dylan impersonaton!

    Oops, yeah, I left the word “vocal” out of that sentence – I meant “vocal melody.” So we agree!
